Protect the surface and restore the table.
Broken glass, deep scratches, chipped edges and a top that shifts or overhangs unevenly can turn a useful table into a safety concern. Timber and other finished surfaces may also need protection from spills and daily wear.
Jim's Glass can measure an existing table or use a suitable template for a custom shape. Glass type, thickness, edge finish and support must match how the table is built and used.
For damaged furniture, see our table top glass replacement service. For other made-to-measure interior glass, explore custom mirrors and learn where safety glass may be appropriate.

Local Jim's Glass glaziers can help with protective overlays and replacement glass table tops across Australia. Glass options, transport limits and fitting services vary by location, so the furniture and intended use should be assessed first.

The glazier checks measurements, thickness, edge finish, corners, cut-outs and support requirements.
Glass is made to the confirmed specification, then supplied or fitted according to the agreed scope.

It depends on whether the glass covers an existing surface or acts as the main top, as well as its size, supports and use. Toughened safety glass is often considered, but the full design must be assessed.
There is no single correct thickness. Span, size, support position, expected loads, edge exposure and glass type all affect the specification. A glazier should review the design before glass is ordered.
Many custom shapes are possible using accurate dimensions or a physical template. Curves, clipped corners, holes and complex shapes must be confirmed before manufacture.
Often, but suitable clear pads or spacers may be recommended to reduce movement and direct contact. The timber finish, trapped moisture, heat and edge overhang should also be considered.
Cost depends on size, thickness, glass type, shape, edge finish, cut-outs, access and whether a template or fitting is required. The final specification is needed before an accurate quote can be prepared.
Very light surface marks may be assessed, but deep scratches, edge chips and cracks can affect safety and appearance. Replacement is often more practical, especially when damage reaches an exposed edge.
